Where are you avoiding a hard conversation you need to have?
Never avoid hard conversations. If there is a minor issue that needs to be addressed, repair it. When left unchecked, minor issues will eventually become major issues.
This advice applies to your relationships, business and beyond. Hard conversations now prevent harder conversations later. Don’t believe the old adage; Time doesn’t fix anything. In fact, it usually makes things worse.
Looking back on my life, I can recall painful instances when I avoided hard conversations with my family and leadership team. Minor miscommunications that could have been resolved with a timely, direct conversation instead led to major miscommunications that took many hours of painful conversations to repair.
Here’s the cold, hard fact: problems compound with time.
My question to you is this: Where are you avoiding hard conversations in your life? How might a single, direct, hard conversation now prevent a much bigger issue in the future?
We have coined a phrase in our family: “We do hard things.” Doing hard things goes well beyond the confines of your health and morning routines; it includes the people who surround and impact your life and goals.
Though it may be challenging at the moment, have the hard conversation. Be clear, direct, and kind. Hard conversations today will make for an easier life tomorrow!
